How iris colour is matched
Layered paint, light and texture — from the fellow eye to the finished shell.
Matching begins with looking
We read the fellow eye in even light: the limbal ring, radial fibres, a warm or cool undertone. A reference photo helps, but the last decision is made at the paint table.
The aim is not a pixel copy. From conversation distance, the two eyes should belong to the same colour family.
Layers that build depth
- Iris ground and the main undertone.
- Radial fibres and natural flecks.
- A quiet peripheral ring against the sclera.
- Delicate veins on a cream ground — never a harsh red.
- A final coat so colour holds in daylight.
What we check at the fit
At handover we view colour from several angles and lights. If the ring or undertone needs a correction, another thin layer goes on. Rushing this step costs likeness.
